For this piece, I aimed to represent the Morning Star of the Sioux or Lakota nation. Using cut glass in mosaic technique and weaving star patterns from the center, the Morning Star symbolizes wisdom and understanding. The eight points signify the four stages of life—childhood, youth, maturity, and old age—as well as the four cardinal points: north, south, east, and west. The first time I encountered a quilted star with this same color palette, I couldn't help but fall in love with it. This piece is my offering to honor this beautiful culture.
